Swimming Naked with the Dolphins

I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw these pics.  This was taken by someone off the coast of Hawaii.  Does anyone have any info on this?  Is this something that is sponsored or did this guy just happen to be snorkeling naked next to dolphins.

The spinner dolphins hang in several well known bays. In Maui, off of La Perouse Bay. They are especially prevalent off of Lanai as well. It is "illegal" to harass marine mammals, dolphins included, but, if they happen to come up to you (and they are very curious) it is apparently legal. It is a matter of being in the bay when they are and the rest is up to chance. La Perouse is isolated enough that you "probably" wouldn't get hassled for swimming naked and the lava tongue on the side is even quieter still and full of awesome reef fish.

I used to live on the Big Island and swam naked with the spinners at Kehena Beach many times. It's a great nude beach (think Manson family picnic) and the dolphins are usually there once or twice a day.

I have pictures of the spinner dolphins at La Perouse in my July 6 posting . They were bobbing up and down in front of the boat, even after we stopped they spun off from the sides. I think they would have stayed for a while even if we hopped in. ;-) I think Dennis has given me incentive to stop by Kehena next time I stop by my vacation house at Mele Kohola (5 min. away) although I was always a little too shy.

Wow. . .how magical is that. I've heard whales singing while snorkeling off Maui, but have never been that close to dolphins in the wild. And to do it naked. . .wow. Thanks for sharing, jared.

There are many places in the world where you can swim naked with the dolphins and other sea creatures. Hawaii is great. So is Australia, in and around the Great Barrier Reef. Tahiti's incredibly blue water and abundance of sea life is also such a beautiful place. Some of the islands of Micronesia, such as Palau. And, of course, the Keys of Florida. You don't need to go on a sponsored trip for any of this. It's all available to anyone who wants to try it.

Wow, these pix are certainly making it around the WORLD! One shouldn't be surprised at the power of the internet. The guy in those photos is a personal good friend of mine. I will certainly forward this to him and have him to respond himself. How's that fellas?
In the meantime ... does anyone know of any great "off the beaten path" places to visit (ie: small villages, indigenous cultures, secluded beaches, outdoor rustic accommodations, etc.), thanks for your time.

We swam with the big silvery sea turtles late last December (20th?) at little Makena beach, a nude beach on Maui. The next day we swam with the dolphins. The turtles apparently migrate that time of year. The dolphins seem to be there more or less year round, although this was the first time we saw either of them at little Makena (a great beach even without the turtles or dolphins.)
Sometimes you can see the little golden "palomino" colored mongeese (mongooses?) in the brush above the beach. Everyone's cool and leaves the animals and sea life undisturbed.
Later in early January swam with more dolpins off Secret Beach on Kauai.
